I Dream of Jacket

22 March 2012

There is a little story about this jacket. I fell in love with this a couple of years ago in Forever 21 and put off buying it because I didn't have the funds to drop $30+ on one piece. I normally buy something on the spot if I absolutely love it, but I was a starving grad student and put my need for food and toilet paper above a pretty beaded jacket. Sue me.

Anyway, I would always return to the store and check to see if maybe it came back in stock, or one had been stuffed in a rack and forgotten. Alas, it had not. I searched Google images and Ebay in hopes of scoring one secondhand. I would put outfits together and think, "Gah, if only I had the pink bugle beaded jacket." This little sparkly jacket haunted my dreams.

One day about a month ago, I was perusing the racks of Buffalo Exchange after begging my husband to come with me, even though he hates watching me shop. Out of the overflowing love in his heart for his beloved wife, he came with.
As I was flipping through the sale section, my hand grazed over something beaded that looked alarmingly like 'my' jacket. As I yanked the hanger off the rack, my eyes teared up, my pulse raced, and I know I was turning redder by the second.

I actually ran across the store with the jacket in my hands. My hands on my jacket. I got to the hubs with tears in my eyes, and with shaking hands, showed him the jacket. He thought someone had died. When I breathlessly explained how my search for this beauty was finally over, he almost left me in the store. He thought I had lost my ever loving mind. And I probably had.

But you know what?

I had my jacket.

  2. As a fellow thrifty shopper, I would probably react similar! I can understand that feeling of loving an item but not wanting to pay full price then having it not go on sale and thinking its gone forever! Thanks for sharing your happy moment!

    1. Haha thanks! I was actually watching a guy change into a 'security' uniform in the middle of this park, while his dog was pooping on the sidewalk! Then he got into his giant white van (with a ladder on the back) and drove off. I was mesmerized.

  7. Reading this while in class and had to stop myself from dying and laughing/crying at the same time - mostly because I have stalked some cheap items and then I kill myself later. Pretty much, I have been there.

p.s. Curly haired girls unite!!! Your color looks great :)

    1. Haha thanks! Yeah, I can get a bit dramatic when it comes to clothes. But seriously, I can't count how many times I've regretting not getting an item, but never have I found it again! So naturally I had to share!

And yay for curls! Sometimes I punish them with the flat iron if they get too big for their britches, but normally I let them run free :)
