SHAPE Diva Dash 2012

08 May 2012

A couple of weekends ago, I had the pleasure of meeting up with a rowdy bunch of ladies for the Diva Dash 2012 here in Austin. It was a women's only 5K trail and obstacle run through a park with a SWAG party afterwards. With sponsors such as Origins, Luna, Birkenstock and Sahale, I knew I was in for some goodies!

Is it sad that I'm talking more about the SWAG and less about the race?

Our race wave began at 8:15am and we took off running through mulch, barreling through obstacles such as a bungee maze, balance ball tire run, bubble tent, log run and rope wall. I gracefully bowed out (ignored the race moderators) of the water portion of the race, seeing as how it was freezing out, thanks to a cool front that came in the night before.

Well, and I just bought new shoes and wasn't interested in breaking them in on the bottom of a dirty park lake.

Blisters and Ebola? Pass.
I don't normally smile this early in the morning
Ready to roll
Racing in hairbows
Everyone have their timers?
Estrogen for miles
I couldn't help myself

We're a special pair
Trying on some comfy Birks (so I could get free socks!)
We survived!
I need to ask how she got her ponytail so full.

  1. my mom did this! so fun, maybe I will have to do it next year (and walk the 5k haha)

  2. Britt, this sounds like it was an absolute blast! Running isn't my thing, but I could be talked into doing something like this. :)

  3. You kill me with the last comment... And don't you always know the answer to that one? Just ask any good guidette = Backcomb!

  4. Haha, I loved this, such fun pictures! I loved your race day ensemble. And I want to know how she got her ponytail so full too!!

    1. Heheh, this post made me laugh so much!
I believe you are the perfect one to help me in my bikini battle on my blog, I am sure you have some good advice for me.. hope you stop by:

I am happy to find your blog, great source of inspiration!

      Xx, A.

  6. Yay for 5Ks. Why am I yay-ing, idk. hah. I'm not a fan of running, BUT I vowed to myself to make 2012 a challenging year, so I signed up not for one, but 2 (a 3rd might be coming up!) 5K races. It's do-able, I think. I'll probably end up fast/power walking, haha... One thing is I gotta try to convince my boyfriend to dress up for the race.

    bunny kisses, Rima

  7. Congratulations on the race, you all look super cute in your bright colors! The water portions of those races are always so gross, you're smart for opting out. Awesome swag bag too!

  8. that sounds completely, amazingly fun!! congratulations on completing it (minus the cold, dirty lake of course. i'd probably have skipped it too)!! you & your friends look super cute with all of your bright colors. i wish i could have run with you all!
