Full Blown Nest Obsessed

14 June 2012

I will be the first to admit. I love moving. I hate packing.

How these two go together is beyond me, but I love the new space, the new place to explore, the endless paint color options. We have two weeks to make a decision as to whether we are going to stay in our little 750 sq ft house, or move to something with more room (and hopefully a closet). We have been on the hunt for what will hopefully be our last rental until we buy.
Micah and I are torn on whether to stay in our little house and suffer through the lack of space, absence of a dining table and multiple college aged neighbors or to move a mile or two north and pay a good bit more for some extra space, quieter neighbors and dinners where we aren't tempting fate by eating every meal on our couch.
All of this talk of moving is making me ache for our own place, where I can install wainscoting throughout the house, bold printed wallpaper, molding around the ceiling, heavy painted wood doors with glass doorknobs and subway tile in the bathroom. I'm anxious to pick out wall colors, hang lights in the backyard, build a screened in sun porch.
I've been cruising Realtor.com, Craigslist and shamelessly driving through neighborhoods, pretending I'm actually in the market for a place. Because of this, I've been blowing up my Pinterest lately, planning and dreaming of the day I can make my own little nest from found treasures, re-purposed pieces and family heirlooms. I want to start all of these fun projects now, but our 750 sq ft of nest won't fit one more piece of anything. Trust me. I've tried.
I'm in full nesting mode, but without that pesky down payment to help me out.

Full nesting mode minus the baby, mind you. None of that monkey business.

Also, a big CONGRATS to Christy, the $50 Shabby Apple giveaway winner!

  1. I love that first picture... but I probably will never be able to convince my husband to decorate our bedroom orange. Good luck with whatever you guys decide!

    1. Luckily Micah has resigned himself to live in a bag of Skittles. The more color, the better in my opinion :)

  3. I love all those pictures. I totally know what you mean. It will be so nice for you once you can make decorating decision without having to ask "are we going to have to paint that back?" I hope y'all find something good soon. What area are you thinking? Towards downtown?

    1. We are looking at Brentwood, Highlands, Crestview, North Loop and Allandale right now. Basically everything south of 183, north of 45th, west of 35 and east of Mopac! I hope we find something right for us. I'm so anxious to actually own a place, but at least something tolerable for now.

  5. I hate the process of moving, but like you, love starting over in a new space! These ideas you've put together are beautiful. We're slowly (like molasses) renovating the Mr.'s '79 house and while it overwhelms me sometimes, I get such a feeling of satisfaction every time we finish a project. Will look forward to hearing what you decide!

  10. I hate moving too but it's fun to redecorate! We rent an apartment so we've only decorated to a certain point since we know we won't live here forever.
