Since the camera hunt is going to be a bit delayed, I'm posting some items that I have recently added to my closet. My goal is to pick things I would have NEVER given a second look before.
White is something I naturally stray away from because I feel like I usually blend with the shirt. The print was just too cute to pass up!
White Bird Top- Old Navy (gifted- Thanks Mom!)
A blue jean shirt? I live in Texas, where they wear them with blue jeans and boots for the fancy nights out. This is so soft and comfortable, and surprisingly thin, so it keeps you covered AND cool!
Yellow is not my color, especially mustard. Fair skin, blonde hair, light eyes- no? But, if worn away from my face, I can pull this off! Plus, this is WAY cute with tights or paired with either shirt above! I am venturing more into skirts because overall, they are more forgiving than shorts and provide much needed ventilation in the Texas heat.
Pleated Paper Bag Skirt-Love 21 (bought with gift card)
This red skirt goes with SO much in my closet- it is a perfect pop of color to a more subtle piece. It is incredibly flattering and looks great with a skinny belt. I have paired it with the bird shirt above with taupe wedges and a scarf and high bun. It also looks great with the chambray shirt above, a bright yellow belt and leopard flats.
I actually had my eye on these in teal, but when I came across the hot pink ones, I thought, "This is definitely not a color I make a habit of wearing anywhere." So, in the spirit of trying things new and venturing into unfamiliar territory, I bought them. They look great paired with dark jeans rolled at the ankles, the yellow shirt above, or for a Valentine's day feel, pair them with the red skirt and a soft pink blouse!
Pink Loafers- Target (bought on clearance!)
Again with the mustard, I know. But I thought these would brighten up my currently drab shoe collection. The soles are CRAZY soft and they are very comfortable to stand in for long periods. Highly recommend these!

Yellow Flower Flats- Target (bought on clearance!)
I am a flats girl. I stand 5'4" on a good day, but can't seem to bring myself to wear heels or flats to anything other than a night out where I spend the majority of the evening sitting. These not only go with everything, but are under $30, and supremely comfortable. I have worn these out all day running errands, and forgot at one point I was higher up off the ground! I'm thinking of going back for a second pair to hoard when I blow these out from overuse.

Dexter Kylie Pumps- Payless
More yellow? I had one yellow item in my closet before this season. Mostly because I was scared of it. Having smaller pieces like this helped me ease into wearing brights. I have paired this with the chambray top, dark purple jeans, dark yellow/tan boots, and a green and blue ikat print scarf. This little guy can pretty much go with everything! And for the price, you can buy it in multiple colors!
Bright Yellow Belt- Forever21 (bought with gift card)
This is great for adding a print to a plain outfit, or to belt over a shirt with a blouse tucked in. The last time I wore this, I paired it with a purple/gray speckled top with a front ruffle tucked into a longer bright yellow print floral skirt, with a thin blue cardigan and gray wedges. Again, the price is unbeatable.
Black Striped Belt- Forever 21 (bought with gift card)

ReplyDeleteOH WOW. NO WAY! I also have the Kylie wedges from Payless. Mine are navy, though.
