At the ripe age of 26, I find myself growing soft.
Muscle
tone is a little bit harder to regain if I choose not to work out for a
month, things seem to slide just a bit when I jump on a trampoline and I
have to hold back tears over the most trivial of experiences.
Am
I the only one? I feel like lately, things that normally would act as a
touching moment have me reaching for a distraction or the fast forward
button. The scene in Taken where he makes the birthday scrapbook for his
daughter? Lump in my throat. The freaking Google Chrome commercial
where the dad and daughter communicate during her freshman year in college? Misty eyes. The other freaking Google Chrome commercial where the dad writes emails to his baby girl every day?
Kleenex please. And don't even get me started on the animal shelter
commercials. Sarah McLachlan's "Angel" is ruined for me for eternity. I
need Xanax to get through all 4 minutes of that commercial.
Yes, I'm still sarcastic, a bit snarky and usually irreverent. I still say things that should probably never progress past a thought that should be kept to myself. But now, I find myself becoming more sensitive and allowing myself to become impacted by emotional experiences. Obviously, I still have to make some wisecrack to distract from the snot bubble forming on the edge of my nose, but inside, I'm all mush.
Ugh I am only 20 and I have been noticing I have been getting soft..... I don't like it!!!! I want to go to the gym... I just end up choosing to snack on the couch instead...haha

This outfit is so cute and colorful! I am only 25 and I can't tell you the last time I stayed up past 12. I am noticing that it is getting harder and harder to eat what I want and not workout to make up for it. Guess I'll just have to work a little harder.
ReplyDeleteI love your jacket!!

Oh man, I know what you mean, I never used to cry in movies and now I can't help it! I cry when it's happy, I cry when it's sad.... Bah!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I am with you!! Also, I'm loving your hair like this.

I can't...just can't watch the animal shelter commercials. What are they thinking putting those sad eyes with Angel? It's too much for me to handle.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, I am loving your side braid!! So so cute!
youre allowed to be a little soft. just remember what you stabd for!
ReplyDeleteLove that orange on you!

Britt, I love your hair curly but it looks fabulous straightened like that. And I just picked up those same pants at Old Navy. :) YES to everything in this post - I've had to take up weight lifting because cardio just isn't keeping me toned anymore. And I'm more and more sensitive emotionally, too - I probably sound totally dramatic, but as I get older I'm more and more cognizant of how short our time is here and so hurt and tragedy and sad things affect me more profoundly than they did when I was younger. Hope you're doing well, friend!
ReplyDeletewhat pretty colors, you look amazing!
ReplyDeleteI definitely hear ya Britt! That father/daughter commercial kills me...and I find myself tearing up during other ridiculous moments as well. Annnnd I find gray hairs every now and then...so there's that, haha. But I've got 2 years on ya...so hopefully the grays haven't reached you yet. Anyway, love this outfit, the colors are great and your hair is so cute :)

Love the casual effortless look of this.
ReplyDeleteOh man, welcome to my world...I've always been a sensitive sap. You know it's bad when you bawl at the previews for The Notebook before it even came out or start sobbing when you see any picture related to the movie Simon Birch. Yeah...
ReplyDeleteHappy to have another softie around, you and Dave can commiserate about those dang kid commercials...he tries to hide that they make them all sappy, but I know better!
I love your jacket! I've been on the search for a leather jacket for ages! Thanks for stopping by my blog and checking out my cozy fall outfit :)

Love those polka dots pants and your braid is so cute! The Dear Sophie video is such a tear jerker, and I had never seen the other one until now... so sweet, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletehaha, I don't think it's age for me, I've always been a little on the emotional side. Sometimes I have to turn off the country music radio in my car so that I'm not endangering myself and other by crying so much I can't see the road. And I was always tearing up over the Olympic commercials this past summer--why, I don't know. I love that outfit! The colors of the scarf and shirt go well together.
ReplyDeleteYou are not the only one that cries at those commercials. It's not getting soft, it's being a girl!
ReplyDeleteLooking awesome in mustard.
Stopping by from the link ups! Happy Friday!
